Write on for Israel

Each year, nearly 80,000 Jewish high school graduates enter college and are often unprepared to deal with the all too pervasive anti-Israel sentiment on campus.

Our friends at BLUESTAR aim to change that with their amazing "Write on for Israel" program, which helps teens improve their writing, critical thinking and speaking skills, and gives them the background and context to advocate for Israel on campus.

After a year of study, the Write on for Israel program culminates in a trip to Israel. Students write and produce a documentary film on a topic of their choosing, which is shown in a local film festival.

Here's a few of their films:

Flight to Freedom - The Ethiopian Jews journey to Israel

Beyond Falafel - Food Culture in Israel

Overrepresented Few - Voices for Peace in the Middle East

Time is Not on Our Side

The Ripple Effect

BlueStar's 3rd Annual "For Israel Film Festival" will be held Sunday, December 11, 2011 from 12:45 PM to 3 PM at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center in Palo Alto, CA. Come watch the five short Israel-boosting documentary films and meet the 25 local teenage filmmakers who produced them as part of the 2010-2011 Write On For Israel program.

And let your local teens know about this wonderful program.
